Why we made Mum's Assistant.
Someone in the house is holding all of it in their head. We thought she could do with a hand.
Every family runs on one person quietly keeping track of everything. The forms, the dates, the half-remembered note from a class email, the dentist that's due, the friend's party on Saturday. It's the most complex operation in the house, and it usually runs on one person's memory — with no admin support and no end of shift.
That's the mental load. It's invisible, it doesn't switch off, and most of the tools meant to help only add to it. Another calendar to keep current. A wellness app to feel guilty about. One more list to stay on top of. None of them carry anything for you.
So we made something that does. Not a calendar and not a planner — an assistant that knows your family's world and gets ahead of things, the way a good one would. She reads the school mail you already get, catches what matters, and hands it back to you in plain language. The point isn't to do more. It's to hold less in your head.
How she works
She asks before she does anything. Nothing reaches your list, or your family, until you say so — and she earns a bit more trust each time she gets it right. That's by design: she starts by checking with you, and only ever takes on more because you've decided she can.
She speaks plainly. A little dry, genuinely warm, never a cheerleader. No hype, no badges, no congratulating you for getting through a Tuesday. Just the next thing you needed to know, said the way a capable friend would say it. You can even give her a name — most mums call theirs Nell.
What she isn't
She isn't a calendar — she works with the one you already have rather than asking you to start again. She isn't a wellness app, and she isn't therapy. And she's deliberately not a scorecard for who does what at home; that's not a number anyone needs on their phone. She's an assistant. That's the whole job.
Why we built it
The day shouldn't have to live in your head for it to get done.
That's the feeling we were after. Less to carry, none of it dropped.
Where it's made
Made in Melbourne, for Australian families first.
That care had to come from somewhere. We built it close to home, for the schools, terms and inboxes we actually know — Australian spelling, Australian rhythms, the small stuff that gets the tone right.
It's meant to be quietly excellent. If Mum's Assistant were an object, it'd be a well-made notebook — not something flashy. Just dependable, warm to the touch, and there when you reach for it.
